Burke

Burke East and West offer residents a fully furnished room. Most rooms are double-occupancy with community bathrooms, though some suites are available. Burke Hall has a conveniently located Mary B’s Market and Deli on the first floor. Residents have access to common spaces areas on each floor, the 1st floor living room and laundry room, and community kitchens on the 4th and 5th floor of East and the 2nd floor in West. Students are responsible for providing their own trash receptacles, cookware, eating utensils and cleaning supplies. For more details, review the specifications section below.

24-Hour Area Desk

Resident Furniture

Furniture provided for each resident:

  • Standard twin bed and mattress (36”W x 75”L), adjustable height up to 33” max from floor (bed rails available)
  • Built-in wardrobe (46”W x 24”D x 76”H), with interior rod and storage unit above
  • One built-in desk (36”W x 24”D x 30″) or one moveable desk, depending on the room
  • Desk chair

Shared Furniture

Furniture shared by all residents:

  • Built-in 10-drawer dresser (42”W x 24”D x 36″H), with vanity mirror above
  • Combination microwave and refrigerator (18.69″W x 19.69″D x 43.75″H)

Bathroom

Community bathrooms provide residents with access to a shared sink area and private shower and toilet stalls.

Community Kitchens

Community kitchens are located on the 4th and 5th floors of Burke East and on the 2nd floor of Burke West. All include a stove, oven, microwave, sink and refrigerator.

Laundry

The laundry room is located on the 1st floor and is equipped with multiple washer and dryers.

There are common spaces throughout the building for students to hang out, study, or enjoy RA-led programs.

Double-Occupancy Unit

Typical

The Double-Occupancy Unit is a bedroom with one set of shared furniture, and two sets of resident furniture. These units line the outer wall of the corridor, with community bathrooms on the opposite wall of the corridor.

2-Bedroom Suite without Bathroom

Rooms end in -02 and -38

The 2-Bedroom Suite without Bathroom opens into a central living room. Doors on opposite sides of the living room lead to a single-occupancy bedroom and a double-occupancy bedroom. Both bedrooms include a set of resident furniture for each resident along with shared furniture.

2-Bedroom Suite with Bathroom

Rooms end in -12 or -28

The 2-Bedroom Suite with Bathroom opens into a living room and a shared sink. Across from the entrance is a private bathroom with a toilet, sink, and shower. Doors on opposite sides of the living room lead to a single-occupancy bedroom and a double-occupancy bedroom. Both bedrooms include a set of resident furniture for each resident along with shared furniture.

3-Bedroom Suite

Rooms end in -08 and -32

The 3-Bedroom Suite opens into a living room and a shared sink. Near the entrance is a bathroom with a closet, two sinks, two toilets, and two showers. Two single-occupancy bedrooms are located on one side of the living room with a double-occupancy bedroom on the opposite side. Each bedroom includes a set of resident furniture for each resident along with shared furniture.

Additional Details

Hanging Items on Walls

For this building, only use 3M Command Strips for hanging items.

Wallpaper, peel and stick wallpaper, mounting televisions, LED light strips and screw anchors are not permitted. Students are liable for any damages caused by unapproved hanging methods.
