HRC offers several employment opportunities for all full-time degree-seeking students at UA. All positions require night, holiday and weekend hours throughout the year, and employees must maintain good academic, conduct and financial standing as defined by HRC. Resident Advisor (RA)
RAs are live-in student leaders who serve as a resource for the residents in a given area, floor, or residence hall. They build community, connect residents to the campus community through programs, and provide on-call/crisis response after hours with the assistance of CDs and UAPD. RAs are paid and receive free housing and must maintain a 2.65 GPA.

Community Director (CD)
Live-in graduate students that select, supervise, and develop RAs, serve as conduct hearing officers and meet students with alleged violations, and provide after hour on-call and crisis response. CDs must work at least 15 hours per week during business hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Monday – Friday) with the ability to work an additional 5 hours per week outside business hours. Preference is given to those in the Higher Education Administration program, but all majors are welcome. CDs are paid and receive free housing, and must maintain a 3.0 GPA while taking no more than 9 credit hours per semester.

Desk Assistant (DA)
Desk Assistants (DAs) staff the 24-hour area desks and play a key role in customer service and community support. Their responsibilities include answering phones professionally, assisting with resident and guest inquiries, and connecting students and families to available resources. DAs also monitor building traffic, help ensure the safety and security of the community, and support residence hall staff and the Front Desk Manager. This is a paid hourly position, and DAs must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to remain eligible.

Summer Operations Manager
The Summer Operations Manager plays an essential role in guest relations, customer service, summer housing operations, facility coordination, and administrative support. They work with various groups, including summer school students, orientation attendees, and conference guests, while representing The University of Alabama to thousands of visitors. The position runs from May 5, 2025 to July 31, 2025, and selected candidates cannot be enrolled in summer classes. The Operations Manager receives $1,000 per month and campus housing is provided.

Ready Crew
Ready Crew members assist with Housing operations by assembling furniture, lofting beds, and moving inventory in and out of residence halls. This physically active role requires the ability to lift 40+ pounds. Scheduling is flexible during weekday hours (8 a.m. – 5 p.m.), with some evening and weekend shifts as needed. A valid driver’s license is preferred.
