How does RoomSync work?
When you receive the invitation link by email, register using a Facebook, Google, or Apple account. If you want to sign in on your iOS or Android device, look for the RoomSync app in the App Store or in Google Play. After you register, create a detailed profile with lifestyle preferences. Remember to be honest and authentic about your expectations, preferences, and habits to increase your chances of finding a good match.
Who can I live with?
Incoming freshmen can only select one roommate, and that roommate must be the same gender according to the University’s records. Incoming freshmen can only see and form pairs with other freshmen in RoomSync.
How do I find potential roommates?
View and swipe through potential matches, saving or skipping individuals as you want. You can also search by name or specific criteria. Chat with potential matches and get to know them before sending or accepting a roommate invitation.
What do I do if I find a potential match?
You can send and receive roommate requests, and you choose whether to accept or reject requests that you receive. A request must be sent and accepted to create a pair. If you later change your mind about being roommates with that person, you’ll need to leave that roommate pair to join a different one.
What if I already know the person I want to live with?
You’ll still need to create a profile in RoomSync, but then you can search for that specific person by name. Once you find that person you can send a roommate request. That person must also register in RoomSync to accept the invitation.
Can I skip RoomSync and create a roommate pair in my housing portal?
No, all roommate pairs must be created in RoomSync.
Does it matter when my potential roommate applied for housing?
They must have a complete housing application in order for you to find them in RoomSync, so they must have applied in time for you to form a pair before the match period ends on May 4.
What happens if the person in my roommate pair cancels their housing application after we form a pair?
That student will be removed from your pair when they cancel their housing application, and you’ll be able to create a new match, if you want.
How do I let Housing know I’ve found a match?
Create your roommate pair in RoomSync. All pairs will be imported into the housing portal when the match period ends on May 4. You cannot create or leave a roommate pair after the match period has ended.
I’m going to pick my room during room selection. How does my roommate get assigned?
As long as 2 people are in a roommate pair, the person with the earlier room selection date can assign themselves and their roommate. Watch your email for more information to come about room selection.
I want to live in a 4-bedroom suite. Can I pick three roommates?
Incoming freshmen can only form a pair with one other person. There is no way to ensure 4 people can room together in a suite. Learn how to increase your chances of successfully filling a 4-person suite with two roommate pairs.
If I don’t form a roommate pair, will Housing and Residential Communities use my profile to assign my roommate?
No, the information in RoomSync is only for you to search for a roommate. HRC will not see it or use it in assignments, including any information you share about allergies or food sensitivity.
